The Jefferson School was loaded with labs, experiments and hands-on activities.
Build-A-Bird was one of more popular projects: Here Children Became a scientist to see what kind of bird creature they were able to create from their imaginations.
Marvelous Mammals: Become a detective by examining the teeth of our local mammals to determine their favorite foods and explore animal tracks and signs. (The Queens Nature Center, and Royal Delaware Nature Society)
Bird Feeders: At the science fest kids had fun making bird feeders and were assisted by volunteers from Salisbury University, Environmental Science department.
Just Blowing Through: Make and take home your own anemometer (wind measuring device), learn about whether technologies, and storms from Delaware’s past. (The Royal Historical Society)
Handcrafted Soap Demonstration: Enjoy an exhibit for your senses. (Schreck’s Soaps)
Animal Health: View “specimens” under a microscope, and learn about animal health. (Dr. Christina Dayton-Walls, DVM, All Creatures Veterinary Services)
Participants also enjoyed the school’s 43-acre campus including the 3/4 mile nature trail (weather permitting).
